SPS & TBT Practice

APJ-SLG law Offices has expertise on dealing with possible barriers related to international standards, government policies and technical and legal issues that may impact industry relating to global trade in agriculture, marine and industrial products. The firm works with the Government of India and industry on issues related to worldwide Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) regulations and Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT).

The firm has been retained by the Agriculture & Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) since January 2010 on behalf of the Department of Commerce, Government of India on issues related to Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures (SPS) notified at the World Trade Organization (WTO). The firm assists the government in responding to SPS measures of other member countries.

The firm has also been assisting Indian and foreign food and beverage companies in preparation of trade, policy and legal strategies related to SPS and TBT issues focusing on the impact of the bilateral and regional Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) and the WTO Agreements.
